BCaster Platform Provides Jokerit with Tools to Build Fan Community
Through User-Generated Content FOR RELEASE ON: MONDAY, FEBRUARY11, 2019
BCaster, developer of an innovative platform for real-time sharing and delivery of photos and videos, today announced that it has engaged with the leading Nordic professional ice hockey team, Helsingin Jokerit, to deliver a suite of mobile user-generated content (UGC) tools to better connect fans, partners, and sponsors of the team. With BCaster, Jokerit (in English: Jokers or Jesters) fans can share photo and video moments more easily than before with their mobile devices, and Jokerit can share fan content, even rewarding ‘fan producers,’ more easily. With BCaster, Jokerit protects its data without surrendering it to third-party social media channels, even when fans share their BCaster moments to their own social media feeds.
The new Jokerit app, with the BCaster tools embedded, will be available for download via the Apple iTunes App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices, on Monday, February 18th.
With BCaster, rights holders can produce and curate UGC content that is relevant, contextual, and real-time, and activate a powerful means of monetizing UGC, both in-venue (even geo-fenced) or globally. Using a sophisticated array of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, BCaster can help customers in the sports industry identify trends and sentiments; develop geolocation-based features; provide ‘fan producer’ features, and craft brand-specific content directions.
Jokerit, part of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), has piloted the BCaster platform for the past year, and has even increased the sales of team merchandise through fan call-outs to display their team colors, either at home ice games at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, at away games or wherever fans might be located. Jokerit has even fed broadcast streams through BCaster. Jokerit hopes to increase overall brand value of the team and its players through BCaster.
“We always strive toward a leadership position, both on the ice and in fan marketing, and BCaster enables us to increase Jokerit brand recognition in new ways,” said Janne Leinonen, business advisor to Jokerit. “With BCaster’s media platform, we can open new doors for our fans to behind-the-scenes activities of Jokerit, and more richly reward and engage them. Sport is about feelings and emotions. There are many great moments that we want to share with Jokerit fans and partners so that they can be a connected community and, essence, cheer for each other.”
BCaster can rapidly analyze Jokerit content and identify, tag, and curate content in real-time. The UGC that is created by BCaster users can be used at Jokerit games on broadcast and social media feeds, for example, showing goals from different angles as well as retakes from particular game plays. Jokerit information from individual games, as well as team moments, are offered in the team app, powered by BCaster, as well as a team ticket store and photo/video gallery, where users can view and share their favorite Jokerit moments.
“We are delighted to be part of the Jokerit family. They are one of the leading sports team brands in the world, and BCaster can help Jokerit fans create a stronger community through the sharing of visual moments,” said Janne Neuvonen, CEO and co-founder of BCaster. “Our analytical tools open up new possibilities for partners and sponsors to be part of a particular sports community, such as Jokerit. We see greater overall potential use cases in sports for BCaster, as we can help teams directly reach the pocket of their fans – their mobile devices – in ways that help the fans win as well.”
BCaster is currently showcasing its service at the 24thAnnual National Sports Forum in Las Vegas, running through tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12th, at the MGM Grand Conference Center. BCaster is hosting a panel session at the event today, February 11th, from 2:30-3:30 pm, entitled ‘Turning Fans to Dollars with User-Generated Content.’
BCaster is a cloud-based platform for real-time sharing of photo and video content. BCaster’s artificial intelligence (AI) stack enables content to be automatically timestamped with location information in a backend that can analyze brands, faces, objects, emotions, and multiple attributes in a video clip or a photo. The BCaster AI identifies and describes user-generated content (UGC) without the need for hash tags or keywords.
BCaster can be used as a mobile app, or implemented via SDK into an existing app, and as a web dashboard. BCaster provides authentic search capabilities for licensors and rapid return opportunities for photographers and videographers. The company is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.
