IBC 2018: New RAVENNA partners, IP Showcase & Many Exhibitors Using Our Converters and Software
With Audio-over-IP (AoIP) workflows fast becoming the rule rather than the exception in broadcast environments, RAVENNA audio networking technology is a natural choice for transporting audio together with its associated metadata. IBC 2018 in Amsterdam was one of the busiest shows yet for all involved in the promotion and implementation of the technology. Especially because the RAVENNA community was just expanded with two leading companies in their respective fields: Dolby and Ross Video.
Trinnov Audio is another company that has announced at IBC that it is now a RAVENNA partner.
The IP Showcase was again a success, with our Hapi converter displayed and connected twice in the ST 2110-30 wall interconnecting via AES67 to all the other devices.
We are proud to be providing our converters & software for the IP Showcase and to different manufacturer’s booths throughout IBC to present their own products or workflows. We are delighted that our products are seen as a common reference.
ZMAN OEM – Versatile Audio Network Module for RAVENNA & AES67 Ecosystems
The ZMAN family of modules is first and foremost designed to provide a high performance media transport that is tightly synchronized (ultra-low jitter and wander), deterministic, and low latency for Networked I/O end-points. What sets them apart from other offerings is the additional processing capabilities that are built-in, with 2 x ARM CPUs and serious FPGA real-estate.
Merging is strongly committed to foster the adoption of AES67 networking capability by making available, as a simple to integrate module (pin-compatible to Dante Brooklyn II), all required functionalities for OEMs to take advantage of this rapidly evolving market.

‘AOIP: Past, present and future’
Andreas Hildebrand of ALC NetworX GmbH, says that RAVENNA is the leading audio networking protocol for broadcast, as others don’t offer the features that are specifically required for those applications. “It’s an open standard, not tied to any one vendor,” he says “You can adopt it freely or work with companies who can help manufacturers adopt it or supply RAVENNA networking hardware or software.” One of the companies that implements RAVENNA is Merging technologies, developers of the Pyramix DAW and HAPI and Horus interfaces.
