There are significant enhancements to the mastering options and improvements to the mixing and monitoring features. Ovation 8 now features a new Playing Cues window and has a number of improvements to the Cue, Interaction and Copy/Paste rules. This combined with the feature set that has made it famous has seen it used on some of the world’s most important events and in internationally famous museums and theme parks.
Fête des Vignerons 2019
Every 25 years, the town of Vevey goes a little crazy in honour of the local wine producers and it has been doing so since 1797. The Fêtes des Vignerons is not only a street festival, it features performances in a huge temporary auditorium that seats 20,000 with a cast of 5000.
Vevey is just a few kilometres from Merging’s office which is great for us, but it means a lot more than a pleasant evening out drinking wine! As the festival lasts almost a month, you can imagine that the Fêtes des Vignerons is much more than just a local event. In recognition of its importance, Television Suisse Romande have their OB van there recording the shows with 3 Pyramix MassCore systems recording up to 990 tracks for archival and post-production freedom.
That’s not all, the orchestral backing tracks were recorded on Pyramix two months ago in Basel and these are played out live for each performance. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the live shows are driven by Merging’s Ovation media server. Not only is it playing the music and audio cues for the show, it is also providing the master timecode that drives the lights, video and special effects. Major sporting events like the Olympics and other national festivities have depended on Merging’s timecode for many years. It is a testament to the reliability for which we are renowned. Who knows whether Merging will still be playing the key role in 2044, but we can be sure that there will be a great celebration of the fabulous Vaudois wine.
We are very proud to be nominated in two separate sections this year for the NAMM TEC Awards. With Anubis in the Computer Audio Hardware section and with Pyramix 12 in the Workstation Technology/Recording Devices section.
Anubis has also been short-listed for the Resolution Awards in the ‘Interface (A-D/D-A)’ section. See all participants and you may want to vote for us!
Pyramix In National Centre For Performing Arts
It might be called the National Centre for the Performing Arts but the Beijing facility is all about the international exchange of culture. Not surprisingly, this is a showcase for Chinese talent in opera, music, dance and ballet, theatre and Chinese traditional opera, but as important are the international festivals and the visiting performers. A centre of this importance needs to have superlative facilities in every area and recording and broadcast are no exception. In company with the vast majority of world-renowned concert halls and opera houses, the NCPA has installed a Merging Technologies solution.
